Important Notice for Customers in the European Union

Changes to EU Import Duties and Customs Clearance

Dear Customers,

Due to recent changes in EU customs policy and updated international shipping guidance from Korea Post, please carefully review the following information before placing an order with J&J Shop.

1. Removal of the EUR 150 Customs Duty Exemption

The previous customs duty exemption for imported goods valued at EUR 150 or less has been removed.

This means that customs duty may now be charged even when the total value of your order is below EUR 150.

2. Customs Charges Are Based on Product Categories

Customs duty may be assessed according to the type or customs classification of the products included in the parcel.

Please note that the calculation is based on the product categories contained in the shipment, not simply on the total number of items ordered.

Depending on the destination country and the products purchased, the recipient may be required to pay:

  • Customs duty
  • Import VAT
  • Customs clearance or handling fees
  • Additional fees charged by the local postal service or delivery company

These charges may apply regardless of the total order value.

3. Taxes and Fees Are Not Prepaid by J&J Shop

J&J Shop does not use the EU IOSS system and does not collect or prepay import taxes on behalf of customers.

As the European Union consists of many countries with different customs procedures, tax rates, and handling policies, J&J Shop cannot calculate or pay all applicable import charges in advance.

Any customs duty, import VAT, clearance fee, or local handling charge must therefore be paid by the recipient directly to the local postal service, delivery company, or customs authority when requested.

The final amount is determined entirely by the customs authority and delivery service in the destination country. J&J Shop cannot confirm or guarantee the exact amount in advance.

4. Please Respond to All Delivery and Customs Notifications

During customs clearance, the local postal service or delivery company may contact you by telephone, text message, email, letter, or delivery notice.

Please make sure that your telephone number and email address are correct and that you respond promptly to all communications from the delivery company or customs authority.

If the recipient cannot be contacted, does not submit the requested information, or does not pay the required taxes and fees within the specified period, the parcel may be delayed or returned to South Korea.

5. Shipping Methods for EU Countries

For most EU countries, J&J Shop can continue to use Korea Post International Parcel service or EMS, depending on the parcel size, weight, destination, and available postal service.

International Parcel service is generally less expensive than EMS, so J&J Shop will continue to select an appropriate shipping method whenever possible.

6. Important Information for Customers in Germany

Korea Post has issued updated guidance recommending that commercial shipments to Germany be sent by EMS due to the current customs clearance and delivery requirements.

Although this is officially described as a recommendation, in practice Korea Post strongly requires EMS service for shipments to Germany in order to reduce customs clearance problems, delivery delays, and returned parcels.

Therefore:

All J&J Shop orders shipped to Germany must be sent by EMS, regardless of the order value.

International Parcel service will not be available for J&J Shop orders shipped to Germany. Please understand that this may result in a higher international shipping fee than shipments to some other EU countries.

7. Returned Parcels

If a parcel is returned to South Korea because of:

  • Unpaid customs duty, VAT, or handling fees
  • Failure to respond to the delivery company or customs authority
  • Incorrect or incomplete contact information
  • Refusal to accept the parcel
  • Failure to complete customs clearance

the original international shipping fee cannot be refunded.

Any return shipping fee, customs charge, storage fee, or other expense incurred during the return process may also be deducted from the refundable amount.

By placing an order with J&J Shop, the customer acknowledges and accepts responsibility for all import taxes, customs duties, clearance fees, and local delivery charges imposed in the destination country.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
